In 20 plus years as a General Contractor, Owner and Chief Financial Officer of Cal Select Builders, Inc., Eldon "Skip" Johnson's career has been spent in various aspects of the construction industry.
Initially for 6 years Skip was a project manager for the Leckenby Company in Seattle, Washington in the fabrication, delivery and erection of pollution control devices (bag horses) for coal fire generating plants across the United States.
In 1983 he joined Taco Bell as Senior Construction Manager for corporate development on the west coast.
Making a career change from corporate to a private company he became a Vice President of Cal Select Builders, Inc. in 1989. Within one year he took over as owner. Since then the company's bottom line has multiplied more than 17 times. In addition to some of the highlights mentioned under Special Accomplishments, he is also proud of:
- Construction of 3 restaurants on the island of Guam; 2 Taco Bells and 1 Burger King; a
tremendous logistical feat, because all building materials had to be shipped from the continental United States to Guam; timing the arrivals precisely to meet project schedules.
- In one year, he opened 26 restaurants in the last six weeks of the year from mid-November
to January 1st.
- Over the years, we have completed jobs in Southern, Central and Northern California,
Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, Utah and Guam.
